Dr. Gumidyala also gives back to the orthopedic community. Like Dr. Furie, he enjoys teaching and mentoring young physicians in the orthopedic surgery residency program at Atlanta Medical Center. On the national level he serves on the Spine Committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He has been asked on many occasions to serve as a moderator for educational sessions and review research papers for AAOS meetings. Due to his commitment to teaching, research and his patients, Dr. Gumidyala stays abreast of the very latest in orthopedic research and surgical techniques.

Dr. Gumidyala's practice approach is centered on patient goals. He believes in a conservative approach that gets results with the lowest risk to the patient, whether it be with physical therapy, medications, injections, or surgery. He understands that patients are concerned about spine surgery and will have a frank conversation about non-surgical and surgical options before sharing decision making responsibilities with the patient.
